New year, new start! As I mentioned before, I am starting a new job,which means I need new clothes! I went out shopping with my husband and picked up a few pieces that I can dress up, but still wear outside of work.

After taking time off for the past couple of years, I am heading back into the working world after the holidays.
This means that I am being extra lazy because I know that I will have weird hours and long days ahead. I will also have to buy office clothes, as I have none.

Whenever I have a job where I have to dress business casual or in a uniform, it means that on my days off, I dress a little weirder than normal.

What does 'no futvre' mean??

I think it's time to explain the meaning behind 'no futvre'.
The spelling of it, with the 'v', is because I was making a stamp using an alphabet kit and obviously there is only one 'u' so I improvised, thats it.
The way that 'no futvre' defines this blog is that I believe that you should dress/live how you want when you want, as if there is no futvre. I like to dress how I feel. Some days I dress really professional, some days in tights and a t-shirt, and some days like I'm in a 60's girl gang. I dont think that I have a 'look'. It changes all the time and I like it that way!

I LOVE this jacket. It's oversized and has gold polka dots!
I wore this to pick up some gluten free bread as I am now a gluten free girl.
I MISS PIZZA!!!

Also, I have never felt comfortable with wearing ankle-ish type boots. All my boots are over the calf or higher. I've really been pushing myself and now i can't get enough!

All the Animals

I kinda have a problem.
I love all the animals.
If I go somewhere and there are animals, I have to pet them.
Here are pictures of some of the animals in my life.

This first cat lives at the pet store by my house. Right next door to the pet store is a tanning salon and the cat likes to visit it. Here is the big fat cat sleeping in the tanning salon's window.

These next two are taken at the apple farm. I actually touched the goat, but only after seeing a little kid pet him and not bite.

This is a mini horse sleeping. I of course call her Lil' Sebastian.

And here is the best for last. Recently, a good friend of mine got a boston terrier. This is my dream dog. Her dog, Steve, is the best dog ever. Such a sweetheart and so well behaved.

I have wanted a pair of high waisted jeans for a while now. When city chic had their sale, i picked up a pair. Jamie Lee from HipOh got her pair first and posted abut them here . Her experience was exactly the same as mine, too tight. whenever I sit down, they just roll down and hurt. I stored them away and thought "at least I tried". A few days ago, Bronny from FAT AUS posted about her city chic high waisted jeans. Since they worked for her, I thought I'd give them another chance. They still suck.

I am going through a hair crisis!!
I had decided a while back that I was going to grow out my bangs for the first time since I was 17.

I was doing pretty good with resisting the urge of grabbing the scissors and trimming, that is, until today.
I am really tempted today, reallllllllly tempted.
I think that if i got a proper hair cut, it might help???

I hope I can push through it. I am feeling so weird with having so much of my face exposed at all times. I miss hiding behind my bangs!

Left Eyebrow Raised, Right Eyebrow Raised

You may not know, but I am growing out my bangs for the first time since 10th grade, almost 13 years ago!

This is raising a bunch of issues for me. I am not used to having ALL of my face exposed. My forehead and eyebrows are getting the attention they have been lacking for the past 13 years.
When I was in my teens, I asked my sister, then in high school, to 'do my eyebrows' for the first time. It was a disaster. They were super thin and no where near symmetrical.
The only good thing to come out of it was when they grew back in. Somehow, I was able to save them, but I don't even know how I did.
I used to get at least one girl comment about how much they loved my eyebrows every time I went out. I have since stopped paying attention to my eyebrows but it's time to change that.

I have been experimenting a bit but am still looking for something better and easier. I thought I'd never find anything until I received an email this morning and go so excited! I normally don't bother watching make up videos but this one was so relevant to my needs right now!

Pre Tokyo

I'm still adjusting from my trip.
It's not easy to adjust from a 13 hour time difference.
We've been getting up at 1 am and going to bed at about 2-3pm for the past few days.
Will my sleep schedule ever get back to normal????

I loved Tokyo soooooo much and it was life changing, so I am referring to my life now as pre and post Tokyo.

My laptop broke the day after I got back, so luckily I have a backup and my hard drive wasnt affected.

I am in Japan!
This is my second week here in Tokyo.
I'm actually staying in Tokyo Bay.

I was able to check out Harajuku a few times, but most importantly on a Sunday.
Here are the rock n roll dancers in Yoyogi Park.

I'm heading out to another toy store, on the hunt for a certain character.
I was able to get some Little My stuff at Kiddy Land.

There is so much I've experienced, including a few earthquakes!

Tokyo is an amazing city and I cant wait to come back!

after a mistake on my part, my hair colour is finally where i want it to be.
i was mixing half of the required amount of bleach powder to the developer, which made this process take forever, but once i corrected the issue, it went much faster.

i find that with this hair colour i want to wear lots of bright colours.
i've been dressing a lot weirded too, like i could easily make it onto the pages of hel looks, but not with this outfit.

I got these faux bois frames off of ebay a while ago. They are really great but the arms are mostly plastic and all fragile cause they are so old. I dont know if i want to put my prescription in them just yet.

four eyes

So, I am finally back from California.
The flight home was a really bad experience, involving misplaced luggage and loooooong waits in the freezing cold, car stuck in ice, no one to help, etc.

I was dealing with some not so great news about my mother while i was in California, which made it hard to go too far from my computer, which is my phone. I layed pretty low, with a few trips into San Francisco and checking out some places close by.

When I returned home, I was given the worst news possible about my mother and have been spending my days in the hospital this week and that's all i'm going to say about that.

My husband and I are very sad to be back for a number of reasons.
I think that whenever you spend a bunch of time away from home, you come back either hating your city or appreciating it more. We are definitely the former.

This was a bit too negative but I'm feeling very blah.

Tonight we are making tacos so that's something!

I have an outfit post from before I left. I've been living in leggings and a t-shirt here cause it's too hot for anything else.

I went to a Japanese bakery and bought one of each of their macarons. I was disappointed considering they cost $2 a piece. I make better macarons.

We spend most of our time in the Haight cause of Amoeba records. Our haul is insane. This is just some of it.

We found this store called Loved to Death which is basically full of morbid things and taxidermy. My sweetheart bought me this ring which is so relevant to my interests.

I was supposed to get onto a plane headed to Detroit at 10:45pm last night and arrive in Buffalo at 9:00am this morning.
I'm so lucky that I got to extend my trip cause I would be stuck in an airport right now.

I got these jogging pants at Target for $3, but I thought I would dress them up.
This isn't my style, but I thought it was fun to try it out.

I get to stay in this country for two more weeks!

The main thing that I love about America, that I am not sure if Americans realize this, is your choice.
You all have so many choices, even with something like coke. There are so many types of coke available at all times.
Right now I'm in Los Altos. I have the choice to eat really healthy, or not as healthy. The options , within a walking distance, are really good, no fast food.
All the pop I've had has been made with pure cane sugar, all natural ingredients, no corn syrup, which I try to avoid at all costs.

I know that the healthy options everywhere might be a California specific thing, cause I have visited the majority of states, from the northeast to southeast, the west coast, and most of the rest, but I've still seen CHOICE in every state.

I'm really bad at expressing myself, but I just love America and I dont think it gets the credit it deserves.

This has been my go to outfit as of late.
Black tights, black shorts, black top.
This is pretty much all I packed.
I totally didnt even think about being in all black in the hot sun.
It is not the most comfortable thing to wear during the day, but perfect for the evening.

I went into Ross's to check it out and I was pretty un-impressed. I dont know if they are better in other cities, but everything in this city is all picked through and a mess, even the Target and Walmart. I was about to give up and then went to check out the shoe section. Each size aisle had about 5 shoes, all messy. But then this pair of nude coloured shoes caught my eye. I picked them up and saw the name inside, JEFFERY CAMPBELL. I almost died. I checked the price and they were reduced to $9.99. I died. Then I went around and checked all the sizes for more and found the black wooden clogs I've been wanting for ages, for $34.00.

What a weekend!
We are really enjoying ourselves out here.

Before the weekend, I spent my time exploring the stores and mall close by. I discovered this magical place called Daiko, which is a Japanese dollar store.
I can't believe all the amazing things they have, all for $1.50 each.

I also went into Walmart to compare prices and some things cost twice as much as they do at home. Palo Alto is not a cheap city.

I always have to get poptarts in the states cause they have better flavours.

Just so you know, the great value is way better than the brand name.

The heat! I cant believe it.

I now regret bringing only black clothes cause it takes about two seconds before i'm all sweat.

The first night here, we ordered pizza. It was so yummy. I really liked the box too.

Last weekend, my husband went into San Francisco and bought me a record!

Lydiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!

The couch in the hotel is a chaise lounge. I've been taking about how much I want one for ages now.

I really love it here, the only problem is that the food does not agree with me. It doesnt matter what I eat, I get sick. At first I blamed the greasy pizza, but yesterday I ate yummy fresh sushi and the only drinks I had were all natural/organic/healthy, and I still got sick. I dont know what it is about food in this state but this happened last time i was in California too.

I have to wait about an hour until the walmart opens so i can pick up some laundry detergent and maybe go to joanns fabrics.

I'll probably watch Jersey Shore to kill the time.

California Time!

I made it!
It was a long couple of flights, but I'm here.
I got to the hotel at about 8pm, ordered an amazing pizza, and watched Portlandia and went to bed.

This morning (I cant believe it's only 9am here. I'm still on eastern time) we walked out to get coffee and I was wearing a dress with no leggings, and thats it. We did this at 8am and it was warm enough to do this. The funniest part is that there was this sandwich board at the coffee shop that said "It's cold out, come on in and warm up with a hot drink". THIS IS COLD FOR YOU????

I'm going to go exploring a bit, meaning i'm going to target.
I did go to google maps first thing this morning and do a search for 'thrift stores' and came up with this:

Last Day

Today is my last day of this:

Yesterday, when I got into the car, not only was the outside of the windshield frozen, but so was the inside. it was -18degrees celsius. When I get into San Francisco tomorrow, its going to be +16degrees celsius. I actually can't wait for it.

Also, there's a teeny tiny chance that we could be moving out there. It's small but it's possible.

I only want to wear all black.
I cant do this right now, but when I start working on my wardrobe again, I will only be making/buying black things.

I dropped of my husband at the airport this morning, driving through a snowy and unplowed highway. At one point I was making a left hand turn slowly and my car was fishtailing and the car behind me was honking cause I took it too slow, but I WAS FISHTAILING so I obviously didnt take it slow enough.

I suffer from road rage, you should see me at my worst.

I am going to be driving into Los Angles next week and I heard the traffic there is brutal, I hope I can take it!

I always have a hard time with post titles, so you get a pattern instead.

*The only thing I miss about having a cell phone is that it was my email notification device. I could sync all my emails and I would get that *chime* when I got a new message and I could reply in a timely manner. Now I have to check manually and I always forget.

*I wash my hair and then brush in nice and straight and then tease and knot it. I dont wash my hair for a few days, it dreads in places. I then wash my hair, cry and take a really long time with brushing it straight and tangle/knot free, only to tease it up again.

*going to have a pasta bake for lunch, which I havent had in ages due to my husband not liking pasta

Another year has come and gone.
Not much to show for it, but this year will be different, right????

Last year i re-invented this blog, turned it into an outfit blog. This year I want to continue, but I want to add more art and crafts and sewing. We'll see how well I do with that!

Yesterday my husband and I took a walk to the newly renovated library. It's pretty nice. I am such a fan of the self checkout. I got more recipe books and copied all of the sweets/desserts. There are so many I want to try thanks to Donna Hay, who has replaced Martha Stewart in my books!

I hope everyone had a good holiday/time off. I would do a "what I got for Christmas" post, but I dont think that anyone would be interested in items like a freezer and cutting board as much as I am.

Sometimes you get bored and too lazy to take out the good camera.

I found this granny square like shawl while going through my old room at my parents' house. I'm in love with it.

I made tacos a few nights ago and I usually eat four, but that night I needed five!

When I tease my hair I have to do it really big, then reign it in. I thought it looked a little Peggy Bundy like so I had to put on some leopard.

Right after that photo, I cut my bangs, did my makeup, and fixed my hair.

That's all I got for now.

It's here! The first snowfall. It's snowed before, but it never stayed on the ground. There are even icicles on the balcony!

Last night I went out with my husband to see Glen Matlock.

I had a little too much fun for a Tuesday night, but I did not have to leave the house today.

After a night like that, I really crave greasy food. I was really craving a big mac combo today, reallllly bad. My husband called me just before noon and said he was going to come home for lunch and he was thinking about buying mcdonalds. I was so happy!

So now I'm feeling better and I'm just waiting until the laundry room is open again.

I live with my husband.
My husband works long hours and most times through the weekend.
He is not my sugar daddy who is paying for all my things so that I don't have to use my debit card.
Do I have clothes to wear? Yes.
Do I have a roof over my head? Yes.
Do I have food to eat daily? Yes.
Do I help clean the house, run errands, cook, do laundry, and do things for my husband and I because he is busy with work? Yes.

And, as Jaya said, I was talking about buying wants, not needs.
You need clothes and shoes, but do you need a new dress every week?? No.

I also said "You dont want to be 30 and have to live at home or not be able to buy food", referring to people who are doing it on their own. So if you dont have 'someone taking care of you' you should go back and read my advice cause it is for you.

Holiday Colours

Can you imagine not buying ONE SINGLE THING in months??
I have clothes that are years old and don't fit right, I'm so sick of everything, and I can't do a thing about it.
I'm just dealing with it. It sounds ridiculous, but I used to go shopping almost daily. I cant even tell you the last time I went to a thrift store.

ADVICE: For all the young girls out there: Dont spend money you dont have for clothes and accessories. Keep you credit card balance at zero. You dont want to be 30 and have to live at home or not be able to buy food cause you have to pay off clothes that you bought years beforehand and probably dont wear or even own anymore.

I want to say "phew!" but it's not over yet.
Last week was my husband's birthday. We celebrated 4 days in a row, starting with a surprise visit from my sister-in-law the day before his birthday.

I was all packed up to go knitting and she came down to take us out for dinner.
This is what happens when you have family that live far away with busy schedules.
I was sad to miss the knitting night, but I had a great dinner.

The next day my husband and I went out alone, the following day we relaxed, saturday we went out for lunch with my mother-in-law and other sister-in-law and my niece and nephew, and sunday was at my parents house!

This week is hectic too because we are going on a cruise. We have 4 more days to get ready. There is so much to get ready! I hope that it will be fun and relaxing once we are actually on the boat.

I'm going to spend my time tanning, eating, reading, and crocheting.

Letting Go

I have the hardest time letting go of things.
Whether it be a comment or a thing.
When it comes to things, I hold on to everything. I can pair a memory with any item.
So when I opened my purse and saw this:

I was heartbroken. My fuscia lipstick opened up and the lipstick fell out and melted all over my things. This is the lipstick that I took with me on my drive from buffalo to california and I wore it on my wedding day.

All I wanted to do was clean it off and keep the empty tube, but I threw it out.
Big step. I'll always have that memory and letting go of things is really important.

Weird Things About Me

One thing you might not know about me is that I am obsessed with serial killers.
I love watching any and all shows/movies/documentaries about them.

In August, I went to the wax museum in Niagara Falls and there was a Charles Manson figure there. I know I look creepy, but I didnt have makeup on and the lighting sucked.

Down the road was a criminal wax museum. I only went into the gift store. It was like heaven to me.

I got a mug and t-shirt.

I do get weird stares with that shirt on, but it also means that store clerks and people in general will stay away from you.

I thought summer was the hardest time for me to find comfortable clothes, but I'm finding out that it is a lot harder in the fall.

I know, you're probably thinking "Who cares about clothes, there are so many other things to be worrying about"

The thing is, for me, if I don't feel comfortable in what I'm wearing, I will not leave the house or be really upset/in a mood all day.

I have been wearing the same thing everyday for the past two weeks. I have my one t-shirt that I feel comfortable in, no matter what, and it's starting to die on me.

I used to just wear a dress and tights and boots and cardigan all fall/winter, but some days I dont feel like wearing a dress to go grocery shopping, you know?

The other thing that is making this hard is that I have decided that I need to pay off all my debt. I don't have a lot, but it's time to see a zero balance on the credit card. This means that I can't buy one single thing. No food, no clothes, no coffee and a donut. NOTHING! It's so hard to not just take $20 and treat myself to something, but that's what got me into this mess in the first place.

The end goal is to have zero debt and lock the credit cards away!

I have been spending my days crocheting and going to the library and drawing.
I think I am getting addicted to tumblr too.

Recovery

This was a pretty busy weekend.
My birthday.
Thanksgiving.
Long weekend.
It is now time to get back into our regular routine.

Thank you so much for all of the nice birthday wishes!

I got some beautiful flowers and amazing card from my husband.

Along with my cake, we picked up some pastries.

We went out for dinner at a very close by restaurant called Earth to Table. The people who own it have their own farm so everything is local and fresh and seasonal.
They have some starters and the main is a bunch of different pizzas, and they have desserts. It was one of the best meals I've ever had.

We then came back for cake!

It was a great day!

The next day we drove to my sister-in-law's house for Thanksgiving dinner. So much good food and we picked up lots of leftovers.
The next day we ate all the leftovers.
On Sunday we went to my parents house for lunch, then came home and watched some shows I had saved up.

Now it's time to get back onto our schedule, go back to our home cooked meals and way smaller portions.

For lunch/dinner we are going to a new restaurant down the street called Earth to Table. Its all local fresh food and they serve wood oven pizza which is the only way I want to eat pizza from now on.

Last Days of 28

This Friday October the 8th I turn the big 29. This is my last year in my twenties.
What did I do for the past 28 years? I have no idea!

Today, I took out my bamboo tablet and did a quick drawing in Corel Painter. I love this program so much. I am still getting used to my bamboo so it's a bit shaky.

The rest of the week entails:
*oil change for the car
*getting some gourds at the farm
*doing my nails
*dinner with my husband on my birthday
*thanksgiving dinner with my family
*dropping off/picking up books and movies at the library

I'm also going to be applying for a job that might really be a proper step in my wanted career. It's an apprenticeship position, so please wish me luck!

Books

I am one of those people who says "I hate reading", but I really dont.
It's mostly because I do not consider myself very smart when it comes to English. I know how to read and write, but my vocabulary is very limited, and my understanding of 'big' words is not where I would like it to be.
So, because of that reason, I dont read that much, but if I did read on a regular basis, my problem would be fixed!

I went to the library to get myself a card and check out some books with my husband.

I got a ton of stuff and am done with half of it. The main branch is a close walk, but there is a smaller branch about a 5 minute walk from my house so I have been placing so many things on hold to be picked up there.

I've had this book for ages but havent tried anything, until now.

I tried two things. I loved the dessert, didnt care for my side dish. I know what I need to do to improve the side dish, so it wasnt a loss.

The dessert was crepes filled with caramelized apples with a brandy flambe.

I dont have any photos of the finished dessert cause we ate them up pretty quickly.
I think I might make apple tarts with the same filling later tonight!

Sometimes I miss my cat more than usual.
I guess I miss him most when I'm home alone, even though he will not sit on anyone's lap ever, does not like to be touched or looked at, and likes to be alone.

My neighbour has a cat and I tend to peak outside throughout the day to see him/her and say hello and blow it a kiss.

The kitty looked so cute this morning.

I have found my new favourite beauty product.

The Sally Hanson Nail Art Pen. It is super fine line and comes in a ton of colours. If you mess up, it easily wipes off. You do need a top coat, which I found out was necessary after it wiped off when I washed my hands.

This is what I did with the gold colour.

That is my left hand. You dont want to see the right one!

These are my favourite glasses. I got them years ago off of ebay and put my prescriptions in them. Even though I recently got new Burberry frames with an updated prescription, I have to go back to these.

I am a terrible writer/conversationalist/storyteller, I never make sense and just throw random things together. I dont know how to make a well written and descriptive post, ever. So, in that spirit, here is something that I baked today, just on a whim. Pineapple upsidedown cake.

I didnt have the right kind of brown sugar, hence it looking burnt on the edges, which it actually isnt, and I mixed the ingredients in the wrong order. In spite of those errors, it tastes pretty good and the apartment smells really nice.

Time to prep dinner: Salmon with lemon, dill, shallots with roasted fennel!

The summer is really ending.
The farm where I get my fruits and veggies is slowly having less and less produce.
I really wish I had found this place sooner.

I wish this photo was not taken by a camera phone cause the colours of these squash are amazing in real life.

The rooster here is a leghorn. It is huge!

The pig was finally walking around and not sleeping. If you grunt at him, he grunts back.

We have been really good at buying local. We got some amazing meat at the butcher down the road and amazing cheese at the cheese store across from the butcher!

Built By Wendy: Tea Dress Sew Along: Update 1

I finished drawing out my new pattern pieces.
I hope this will work out!

Basically, my waist, hip and bust measurements are 2 inches bigger than the Built by Wendy XL size. So what I did was I used the XL pattern pieces as my guide.
Since I need 2 inches, I added half an inch to the skirt front and skirt back pieces. I also added a 5/8 inch seam allowance as the patterns in this book do not have them added.

The skirt front pattern piece is clearly only half of the skirt front, so adding half an inch will double to 1 inch when you unfold your cut piece. Same with the skirt back, totaling in 2 inches for the put together skirt.

I did the same for the bodice.

I had to add 12 inches to the sleeve, but I added about 16 because I want a full length sleeve instead of it hitting above my wrist.

Finally, I had to make the collar and inner collar lining. This was a little tricky.

Next step is to cut out the pattern on my muslin (or any scrap fabric).

It's sewing time ladies and gents, and you're invited! Myself (Paige) and Stina, of No Futvre, have decided to tackle one of the dresses from Built By Wendy's: Dresses By Wendy Mullin. You have to purchase the book to get the pattern, but it's a great resource tool and totally worth it. The book gives three basic patterns to create slopers from, and tons of variations to create unique dresses from the said three patterns. If you want to start making your own dresses it's a great tool for pattern making/editing.

Stina and I have the same problem though, were bigger than the largest pattern size in the book. So We decided to tackle it together.

Were going to take the long way on this one. Everything from making the sloper, muslin, dress and finishing the touches, will be documented to help us, and you out.

I have started and actually finished some projects this past week.
I made a dress, a purse, and bread for the first time!

I had an idea for a circular bag. The colours had to be canvas beige with brown leather, it had to have grommets and sailing rope as a strap.

I'm pretty happy with it, it just dosent stay super circular, I think I need to make this in leather to really work.

I made a dress. I dont love it, but it is done and I'm calling it my updated muumuu.

Here it is looking better with a cardigan and purse.

I found a recipe online for crusty bread, cause making a baguette has too many steps.
It turned out really yummy and it's really easy, even though I made a little mistake of following the baking instructions for a bread stone instead of a baking pan. It just meant that my bread was done baking quicker, but a little too darn on top for my liking.

I just finished making some ginger cookies, but those are from a box so it dosent really count. It smells sooooo good in here!

My husband and I are really into Masterchef Australia (no spoilers please!) We are learning a lot about cooking and making new dishes almost daily. We have been on the quest for easy, quick, yummy meals for a while and that show has given us some great ideas. My husband made chocolate and jaffa souffles two days ago and they were so easy and so good!

The rest of the day will include working on my patterns and watching more Masterchef.

Random

This is where I've spent a bunch of my time lately.
Yesterday was a really good day.
I had an idea for a bag, drew it straight on the fabric, cut it out, and I'm so close to finishing it.
I actually used special trims and accessories this time!
I just have to attach the strap and clean up my fraying seams. If anyone wants to buy me a serger, you're more than welcome too!

I also made a shirt/dress thingie which I'll photograph soon.

We discovered this farm that is really close by. Its pretty much an apple farm but they have a little store with all kinds of veggies and fruits and honey and jams.
They also have a goat, pig, few cats, dog, 5 horses, 2 rabbits, a bunch of chickens and a HUGE leghorn rooster.
The above photo is a picture of one of their radishes, on the left, and an apple, on the right, just to show you how massive these radishes are.

We have been really trying to make more simple meals at home and this is something that is in our regular rotation. It's a simple yeast free dough that is nice and thin with roasted veggies and cheese and herbs. So yummy!

Oh, I almost forgot. I am actually wearing pants and slippers and a jean jacket cause it's actually cold enough for it!

I went to a wedding on Saturday. This is what I wore.

The summer heat is back in full force. It's just so humid and sticky. I would love to turn the air conditioning off but you just can't without melting. I'm going to have to borrow my parents' dehumidifier to see if that will help a bit. I'm also going to help my mom give my cat a haircut. I'll be coming home with some new scars for sure.

I know that the whole point is to alter your patterns and stuff but it would have been nice if I fit into the XL pattern from the start. Just knowing that i have to add a few inches, draft the new pattern, cut out the pieces, sew them, tweak them, then start all over again for the correct sizing, is discouraging.

Her sizing goes as follows:
FOR XL PATTERNS
bust - 40"-41" ----I'm 42"
waist - 33"-34" ----I'm 36"
hip - 43"-44" ----I'm 45.5"

I hate getting discouraged before I even start, but if i pick up some proper pattern drafting tools from my parents' house, I can start on it and if these work out, that means a whole new wardrobe for me.

I have one, Walter, but he lives with my parents. It's been about a year since we lived together. I miss him everyday. That's why I have to watch youtube videos to cheer me up when I miss him.

Okay okay okay! I have gotten many comments about my tattoos on here and I have finally taken some photos, albeit bad web cam ones, of most of my tattoos.

1. Steve Buscemi as Seymour from Ghost World. I love this movie, I love that character, I love the drawing.

2. Crocheted circle. I love to crochet circles and then take them apart.

3. Standing fat cat. A tribute to my kitty Walter who I dont get to live with anymore.

4. Mounted dead bleeding rat with a diamond for one eye. This is actually based on a piece of jewelery.

5. Sacred pork chop. Pork is my favourite meat, be it bacon, ribs, or chops. I took the classic "mary of guadeloupe" and replaced Mary with a porkchop and the little angel underneath with a lumberjack.

6. Hank Williams Sr. He is one of my favourite musicians. A tribute to Southern America as well. He is obviously only half finished.

I have other little things floating around but these are my main pieces, some finished, some not.

We are leaving on our little vacation this afternoon.
Oh wait, today is our one year wedding anniversary!
We were going to Montreal, but last night we changed our minds and are heading to Niagara Falls instead.
We didnt get to have a honeymoon, and we wanted to do Niagara Falls last year, but we just didnt have the time.
We got a hotel right on the falls, so we will see both the Canadian and U.S. falls from our bedroom window!

We will hit the casino and all the tourist stuff, i.e. the ripley's museums and wax museum.
I cant wait to get there!!

I have to pack and shower in the next few hours, then we are off!

Lots of pictures and videos will be taken, and I'm even bringing a film camera.

I am so excited!!!

The second busy weekend is about to start, with two more to go!
This weekend is our godson's/nephew's first birthday party.
Next weekend is our first wedding anniversary and we will be driving to Montreal for about 3 days. I'm so excited for that. It will be our first time going there together. The last weekend is Laura's wedding.
I think we get September off, then it starts up again with birthdays and holidays in October.

What a busy weekend!
I went to the festival two days in a row, ate a bunch of food and wore a crop top both days!

I went to Laura's shower in a town about 2.5 hours away. I had never been there before and was a bit nervous for the drive but it went smoothly.
The scenery was amazing. It really reminded me of Kentucky.

New Pet

This morning I woke up to a visitor on our screen door.

A praying mantis.

I'm pretty much scared of it.
It's been on the door all day.
I really need to get on the balcony to throw away my pepper plants as they are covered in lady bug larvae, but I fear it jumping on me.
I sprayed him with water and he didn't move. All he did was clean off his antenna cause they were soaked. It did make for some good photos though.

I am so fascinated with it cause it has eyeballs and if you get really close to him, he cocks his head to the side and stares at you.

I did go out and got rid of some plants, but I have to do it in stages and always keeping on eye on him!

I learned today that every time I shave, it will result in 2inch infections all over my leg that become bruised and a hard mass. Awesome! So now I can't shave me legs anymore. I asked the doctor what I should do and he said that I have to use a cream that just dissolves the hair, no more razors.
I can't wait until these 10 huge sores heal so I can test his recommendation.

Have any of you used a chemical hair removal cream and can recommend one that is good/not too harsh??

I'm gonna mention something, and then you're going to see my outfit photo at the bottom and say "Seriously????", but it's all true.

A few days ago, I was so disgusted by my body. I tried on many different outfits and just saw all my flaws. I couldnt leave the house and I had to cover myself with a blanket to avoid catching a glimpse of my body. The next day, yesterday, I decided to go to the mall to look for some new clothes and I hit the jackpot. I got an outfit for my dear friend Laura's shower and wedding and some for fun clothes.

It's really strange how I can get in these moods of self-hate. They come and go and are just so random. Does anyone else experience it this bad??

Weightlifting

A huge giant weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.
My confidence is coming back.
I have things to work out, but the motions have been started and its only uphill from here.

My husband and I went for a walk in our neighbourhood on Saturday and had some lunch at a new deli and went to some shops. We stopped by a thrift store I used to frequent as a teenager and we made out with some great items. This is my new favourite store.

My teeth are all fixed, for now. I will need to get a veneer in September, but thats a while away.

Other than having a cleaner home and the whole left side of my face numb all day, nothing really happened. I just have to see how my tooth reacts tomorrow morning to see if I need more antibiotics or not.

Its the details that I love

One of my favourite things ever is white/ish blonde hair with black roots. I almost had this.
Looking at photos like this really make me want to go blonde again.

I found this photo on my blog feed a while ago, well 9 days ago.
I keep it open in a tab so that whenever I close a different tab, it defaults to it.
I know, I know, youre saying 'well if you love it so much why not make it your desktop photo?'

As much as I love the 90's, I'm getting pretty tired of all the floral dresses and it's just so nice to see something different and colourful and I just love this so much!

D.I.Y Challenge Number 1

Gabby, from the infamous corazonesrojos.tumblr.com blog, gave me my first challenge.
It was this black ASOS maxi dress.

Now, this took me a while, and is way more difficult than I thought.
Mostly because I didnt use a pattern, I just cut and sewed.
I would think of an idea in my head and try to do it and would fail miserably every time.
I tried making this so many times, and could not duplicate it.

I did make a maxi dress, grey, with ruched sleeves. Its very shapeless but a belt fixes the issue.
This dress is super comfortable to wear and I wish I had a pattern to make it in every colour.

So, here it is.

Now here it is styled in my take on a not-so-severe-goth look.

Its all about the accessories.

P.S. Doin it on the Cheap is taking a summer break, so I'm going to be focusing on my sewing until then.

Welcome to Doin' it on the Cheap!

Doin' it on the Cheap is a bi-weekly feature about putting outfits together while on a budget.
There are three blogs involved.

We are three girls, in three different cities, in two different countries, with three different views. The one thing that we most definitely share is our love for thrift clothes and the sale rack. We live busy lives, balancing school, work, a marriage, bills, and saving for the future. We are here to show you that you dont need to spend a lot of money on clothes. Whether you follow the current trends or have your own personal style, you can do it on the cheap!

Every two weeks, we will pick a theme and we will each show our take on it, on each of our respective blogs.

It was Canada Day on Thursday, so this will also be a bit festive.

I want to thank everyone who left a response and shared their experiences.
It always reassuring to know that you are not alone.
Also, you have all given me options that I can address next time I see a medical professional.

I did wake up to itchy palms and feet with a rash all over my body. It must mean i'm really depressed????

Today is Canada day. My husband and I went to a local festival that lasts until sunday. They have tons of food booths, but every booth is food from a different nation. We ate samosas, baklava, funnel cake, gyros, and schnitzel on a bun. It was really fun and the weather was perfect.

We got home and watched WonderShozen and napped. I worn my pjs all day and did my hair for this moday's Doin it on the Cheap.
